BARBADOS PRIME MINISTER TO KEYNOTE CARIBBEAN CONFERENCE ON SUSTAINABLE TOURISM DEVELOPMENT

Barbados Prime Minister David Thompson will be the keynote speaker at this year’s premier conference on sustainable tourism.
The Prime Minister will deliver the keynote address at the opening of the 11th Annual Caribbean Conference on Sustainable Tourism Development (STC-11) on 9 May at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre.
The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO), which is organizing the conference in collaboration with the Barbados Ministry of Tourism, has welcomed Mr. Thompson’s acceptance of the invitation to address conference delegates.

The Government of Trinidad and Tobago strengthens collaboration with CAF

Ministry of Finance, Trinidad and Tobago:
The Government of Trinidad and Tobago held discussions with the Corporación Andina Fomento (CAF), also called the Andean Development Corporation to explore areas of future collaboration, during a visit from CAF’s high-level technical team on Monday 25 and Tuesday 26 January 2010.

New report confirms importance of offshore centres to world economy

Reggae Star Bounty Killer arrested for possession of Marijuana

Bounty Killer (Rodney Pryce) was arrested on October 4th 2009 for the possession of marijuana.
Bounty was seen at a trendy venue in New Kingston, St Andrew earlier, celebrating a friend’s birthday.
About 4:30 a.m., after leaving the venue he was pulled over by an unmarked police vehicle at the intersection of Grenada Avenue and Knutsford Boulevard in New Kingston.
According to police, Pryce had in his possession a “spliff” and a small bag of four ounces of marijuana.

PETROCHEMICAL COMPLEX TO SPAWN NEW INDUSTRIES

An US$ 1.7 billion Ammonia, Urea Ammonia Nitrate and Melanine (AUM) complex due to be completed before the end of the year is expected to spawn spin-off industries and achieving a goal of the Trinidad and Tobago government for natural gas to be used for creating products further downstream in the petrochemical value chain.

INFLATION CONTINUES DOWNWARD TREND

According to the latest data released by the Central Statistical Office, inflation continued on a downward trend for the fourth consecutive month.
Headline Inflation, measured by the 12- month increase in the Index of Retail prices, fell to 4.3 per cent in August 2009 from 5.9 per cent in the previous month and from 11.6 per cent at the start of the year.
